Born on the 24th of September, 1964 at Sunderpur and brought up at Behula, Hooghly in West Bengal, Dr. Kinsuk Das was always a meritorious student. Throughout his brilliant academic career, he has won numerous medals, awards and accolades.
He completed his initial schooling till Class X from the Somra Durgacharan High School, Somrabazar, Hooghly and then did his higher secondary studies from the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira, Belur, Howrah (1979-81).
He got admitted to the Calcutta National Medical College, Kolkata in 1981 and completed his M.B.B.S. degree (1987 : Registration Number – WBMC 46061) as the best graduate. He then completed his MD in Medicine (1991) and DM in Gastroenterology (1994) both from PGIME&R, Chandigarh.
For the last nearly three decades, Dr. Kinsuk Das has had an exceptionally glittering professional career. He has been associated with numerous renowned hospitals in Kolkata, which includes, Ruby General Hospital (where he was the Head of the Department of Gastroenterology), AMRI Hospital, Dhakuria and Belle Vue Clinic.
He has gained invaluable experience of working in the Department of Gastroenterology, University of Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany under world renowned Gastroenterologist, Dr. Nib Soehendra.
Dr. Kinsuk Das is the Life Member and Fellow of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology and Life Member of Indian Association for Study of the Liver as well as the Life Member and Fellow of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (FSGEI). He has just completed his term (2021-23) as the President, Indian Society of Gastroenterology (West Bengal Chapter) and is also the Life Member, Founder Secretary and Past President of the Gut Chat Club, Kolkata.
Dr. Kinsuk Das is presently an International Member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and past member of the the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterological Association and the European Association for the Study of the Liver.
He is also Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE).
Over the years, he has been actively involved in organizing various medical conferences and seminars. He was the Organizing Secretary of Purbanchal Gastrocon 2015, Kolkata Liver Summit 2016 and the Kolkata Gut Summit 2017 under the banner of Gut Chat Club.
Dr. Kinsuk Das has been conferred with various awards and accolades including the Bharat Jyoti Award, Best Citizen of India Award and Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award. He also had the honour of delivering the Oration at the 65th Reunion of the Calcutta National Medical College. Recently, during celebrating the Doctor’s Day, he was conferred with the Economic Times Inspiring Gastroenterologists of India 2023 Award at New Delhi on 30th June, 2023 by Dr. Jeetendra Singh, Minister of Science and Technology, Government of India.
He regularly attends various national and international conferences, delivers talks and has published papers in numerous national and international medical journals. He has also appeared in a number of television programmes and has also contributed to various newspaper and magazine columns.
Apart from his professional responsibilities and duties, Dr. Kinsuk Das is deeply involved and engaged in philanthropic initiatives. He has regularly organized free medical camps as well as sports summits at different places including his birthplace in Behula, Hooghly in West Bengal.
He has already been author of two highly recommended Bengali books (Pete Pete Eto, 2014 and Khete Khete Joto, 2022) written in relation to Health, Gastroenterology and Liver diseases, food and diet.
He has various other interests and hobbies. He is a health freak, palm detective, globetrotter, anchor, dancer, ramp walker as well as motivational speaker with a strong belief in spiritualism.
